A spokesperson for the energy-saving website pointed to the fact that the UK is currently ranked among the bottom few European countries in terms of renewable energy generation, which could ultimately lead to a “hefty fine” from the EU.

This comes after a recent report from PricewaterhouseCoopers stated that the UK will miss its 2020 environmental targets unless it makes a “quantum leap” in investment in technology such as wind power.
